A 40 year old man fulfilled a 19 year old dream and started his own automotive machine shop. He started in a 2 car garage behind his home with a portable boring bar and a portable crankshaft grinder. He and his wife were the only 2 employees often working long hours to offer special service to their few but very valuable customers. Soon valve equipment was added and a part time employee was needed. The garage became very small and a new building site would soon be needed. A 40X60 building was erected in 1967 at the current location and C&P Machine was on its way. New equipment and more employees were added and by 1972, the company was out of space and a 60x120 addition was added. More new equipment and more employees, C&P was becoming the largest automotive machine shop in the Ft. Wayne area.
By 1983 it was time to add on again and C&P had become an engine parts warehouse along with the largest machine shop around. Another expansion in 1987 and still another in 1992. Today C&P Machine has over 30 employees and 25,000 square feet of machine shop and engine parts warehouse. We have 4 crankshaft grinders, 3 vertical cylinder boring machines, 3 Sunnen automatic cylinder honing machines, main line boring equipment, magnaflux equipment, crank welders and polishers. surface grinding equipment, plus a well equipped modern cylinder head rebuilding department.
